I was there - eyewitness account of the defence of Rorke's Drift

In 1936 BBC Radio broadcast the personal accounts of the survivors who witnessed extraordinary moments in history as part of the series ‘I was there’. This is the talk given by Lieutenant Colonel Frank Edward Bourne OBE DCM in which he describes his experiences as Colour Sergeant during the defence of Rorke’s Drift on the 22nd and 23rd January 1879 in the Anglo Zulu War.
Although it is not clear whether the talk was records, lost or destroyed, a transcript of the recording was printed in the weekly journal ‘The Listener’ in December 1936 and this is now read by his grandson, Mr Douglas Bourne. Audio-CD format
